Mrs. Gwen Carnes Collins age 64 of Flat Lick, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, October 12, 2020 in the St. Joseph Hospital in London. She was born on September 21, 1956 in Valparaiso, Florida, the daughter of Silas Carnes, Sr. and Alene Hibbard Carnes. She had been a secretary at Flat Lick Elementary School for many years and was a member of the Dewitt Baptist Church. She enjoyed her painting, puzzle books and sporting events but especially loved being with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Silas, Sr. and Alene Carnes, and her grandparents, Willie and Victoria Hibbard and General Lee and Axie Carnes, and a sister, Gail Carnes.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her loving daughters, Leann Gibson and husband Dennis of Flat Lick and Johnna Bradley and husband William of Independence, Kentucky, one grandson, William Collin Bradley, her brothers and sisters, Silas Carnes, Jr. and wife Glenda of Bimble, Nick Carnes of Corbin, Missy Jackson and husband Steve and Jennifer Helton and husband Ron all of Dewitt, Kentucky. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gwen Collins will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kennon Roark and Rev. Mike Collins officiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry Lee Bright, Shannon Gray, Ryan Carnes, Tyler Collins, Shawn Collins, Jim Bo Bright and Don Hayes Hammons. She will be laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick, Kentucky. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
