Mrs. Greta Smith Callebs, 52, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday morning, November 11, 2020 at her home. She was the daughter of Melvin and Eller Bargo Smith born on February 11, 1968 in Bell County.
Greta was a nurse and a member of the Dripping Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafting, caring for others and dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
On June 16, 1984, she united in marriage with Dewayne Callebs, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Shirley Mills and Wanda Hensley and two brothers-in-law, Virgil Hammons and Chester Callebs.
Survivors include her beloved children, Maegan Callebs and Robby, of Barbourville and Adam Callebs and wife, Megan, of Hinkle; a sister, Valerie Warren and husband, Greg, of Hinkle; five cherished grandchildren, Jaylynn, Ryland, Graysen, Layla and Jayce; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, November 15 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Vernon Morris officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Callebs Creek Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Greg Warren, Robby Mayne, Jamie Hubbard, Jimmy Hubbard, Jason Hubbard, Nick Gunn, Mike Jackson, Bill Wilson, Devin Smith and Russell Grubb. Honorary bearers will be special friend, Jeanette Townsley, current and former staff of the Pineville Community Hospital and her church family.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Bluegrass Care Navigators, especially Misty Turner, Debbie Cooper and Melinda Moses.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
