Obituary for Glennis Robbins (1949-2025)

Mr. Glennis Robbins, age 75 of Pineville, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday January 13, 2025 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. He was the son of Wilburn Clyde Robbins and Georgia (Miller) Robbins born to them on March 22, 1949 in Pineville.

     Glennis followed in his dad’s footsteps beginning his career with L&N Railroad as a brakeman/flagman. He retired from CSX in 1999 after twenty-five years. He was a member of Wasioto Missionary Baptist Church for over thirty years. Glennis was a quiet man but, loved to share stories about his time with the railroad and his childhood. He even recently began to talk about his time in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. On any given warm day he could be found sitting on the porch enjoying the sunshine with his beloved dog Copper watching the birds or working a crossword puzzle. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by everyone that knew him.

     In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin brother, Dennis Robbins and sister, Susan Morris and brother-in-law, Bob Morris.

    Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Kathy Hinkle Robbins of Pineville, daughter, Rebecca Robbins of Bowling Green, granddaughter, Kaylee Tucker of Bowling Green and his beloved dog, Copper, his siblings, George Clyde Robbins and wife Sandy of Calvin, Kentucky, Betty Jane Bailey and husband Danny of Tazewell, Tennessee, Bruce Robbins and wife Fran and Mary Ann Robbins all of Pineville, brothers and sisters-in law, Larry Hinkle and wife Barbara of Connersville, Indiana, Gary Hinkle and wife Katy of Pineville, Greg Hinkle and wife Jana of Corbin and Charlotte Simpson and husband Morrison of Pineville, nieces and nephews, Steve Bailey, Travis Bailey, Jeanne Pruette, Shawna Yates, Chuck Morris, Clyde Robbins, Jeffrey Robbins, Noah Robbins, Willie Robbins, Jacob Robbins, Brian Hinkle, Lori Wiggins, Shane Simpson, Amber Hinkle, Candace Miller, Cole Hinkle and Graci Hinkle.

   Funeral services for Mr. Robbins will be conducted at the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lynn Miracle officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Fisher Cemetery at Heidrick. Pallbearers will be Steve Bailey, Travis Bailey, Chuck Morris, Noah Robbins, Willie Robbins, Jacob Robbins, Brian Hinkle and Cole Hinkle. The family would like to thank Dr. Shawn Fugate, Dr. Nick Fugate and the staff at Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin for taking such good care of Glennis. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

  Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
