Barbourville, Ky. – Glenda Lee Deaton, 68, of Gentry Jones Branch, Green Road, Kentucky passed away April 2, 2023. Glenda was the daughter of Noah Stewart and Isabella Mills Stewart born to them January 22, 1955, in Knox County, Kentucky.
Glenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a proud lady, always keeping her nails painted and working tirelessly to keep an inviting home for family and friends. Glenda was an excellent cook. Two of her most requested homemade dishes were chicken and dumplings and macaroni salad. Glenda was a Christian and dedicated member of Hughes Hill Church. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially tending to and caring for her flowers and exploring the mountains around her home hunting for Ginseng. Most of all, though, Glenda loved spending time with her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Glenda will be missed dearly by all her knew and loved her.
Left behind to mourn Glenda’s passing is her loving husband of 53 years, Dallas Deaton, sons Billy Ray Deaton (Brenda) and Dallas “Joe” Deaton, Jr. (Lisa), daughter Theresa Deaton Bargo (Kevin), brothers Darrell Stewart (Janice), Earl Stewart (Retha), Larry Stewart, Otis Stewart, Reed Stewart, sisters Mary Ellen Deaton (Denver) and Edna Dean, and brother-in-law Tommy Howard. Eleven grandchildren, Samantha Nicole Gregory, Cody Thomas Gregory (Jessica), Amy Lynn Smith (David Melton), Brandon Ray Deaton (Paige Gray), Nathan Junior Deaton (Laukisha), Amanda Deaton (Alex Mcqueen), Kayla Lynn Mills (Adam), Joshua Dewayne Bargo, Travis Ray Deaton (Jessica), Serentiy Deaton, and Hunter Ray Deaton, and eighteen great grandchildren, first born and cherished great granddaughter Lacy Faith Smith, Tyson Edward Ray Mcqueen, Madalyn Grace Smith, Desaray Paige Melton, Payton Isabella Melton, Zackary Tyson Mills, Dawson Cole Mills, Sarah Elizabeth Deaton, Hope Elizabeth Deaton, Faith Elizabeth Deaton, Damien Malachi Carl, Carter Dallas Lee Gregory, Zoey Faith Mills, Zivan Mills, Zaxon Shane Mills, Casside Sue Deaton, Bryson Ray Deaton, and Lakelin Sienna Deaton. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Noah Stewart and Isabella Mills Stewart, brothers Maxdell Stewart and Raymond Stewart, and sisters Betty Stewart and Patsy Ann Stewart.
The Deaton family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM. Reverend Roy Eversole will officiate with musical tributes performed by Shawn Deaton. Interment will follow the funeral service in the new Deaton Family Cemetery at Green Road, Knox County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers will be beloved family members and friends.
