Obituary for Gillene Miller (1959-2024)

Mrs. Gillene Miller, 64, of Trosper, passed away Tuesday morning, September 3, 2024 at the UK Bluegrass Hospice Care Center.  She was the daughter of the late Haywood Slusher and Lucille Miracle Slusher Howard born on September 27, 1959 in Bell County.

Gillene was a former line worker at DeRoyal Industries, a server at Pine Mountain State Park and believed in the Baptist faith.  Gillene loved spending time with Jimmy, whether they were sitting on the porch watching the deer and squirrels or watching their show, Wheel of Fortune.  She also loved her family, cooking for them and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed an occasional shopping trip.

On January 15, 2022, she united in marriage with Rev. Jimmy Wayne Miller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Arthur Howard, who loved her as his own and a sister, Nancy Miracle.

Survivors include her loving husband, Rev. Jimmy Wayne Miller of Trosper; two daughters, Brenda Messer and husband, David, of Artemus and Tresa Miller of Barbourville; a brother, Fred Slusher and wife, Regina, of Corbin; treasured grandchildren, Noel Turner, Darrin Messer and fiancé, Cheyenne Hubbard, and Jonah Messer and wife, Amanda; great grandchildren, Jarren and Jesslynn Messer, Gavin Jones, Kinsley Hubbard, Ezra, Shalyn and Bryson Messer; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, September 8 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Lonnie Maiden and Rev. Paul Wayne Goodin officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be J. T. Miracle, John Robert Miracle, David Messer, Jonah Messer, Dennis Miller and Darrin Messer.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Sunday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
