Obituary for Genorra “Ginny” Crawford (1938-2019)

Mrs. Genorra “Ginny” Crawford, 81, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 7, 2019 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Clark and Laura Mills Bargo born on April 18, 1938 in Knox County.

Ginny was a former beautician and of the Baptist faith. She was devoted to her Lord and Savior and her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed sewing, canning and shopping.

On February 18, 1956, she united in marriage with George Tom Crawford and to this union two children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a much loved granddaughter, Amber Powers; her in-laws, Alford and Elsie Crawford; five sisters, Ruby Kippenburger, Opal Smith, Margaret Benfield, Irene Hammons and Odie Gibbs; a brother, Himes Bargo; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ethel Mills and Ruby Doris Trosper and three brothers-in-law, Wendell Crawford, Hewy Crawford and Lonnie Crawford.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-three years, George Tom Crawford of Barbourville; two daughters, Teresa Jackson and husband, Dennis, of Barbourville and Kay Powers and husband, Denver, of Mackey Bend; four sisters, Linda Fannon and husband, Terrie, and Dorothy Parsons all of Corbin, Drucilla Adkins of Lexington and Evelyn Burnett and husband, Willard, of Barbourville; a sister-in-law, Nancy Bargo of London; three grandchildren, Michael Prater and wife, Jocelyn, Ryan Powers and Jackie Brown and husband, Matt; seven great grandchildren, Valerie Oliveras, Brandon Prater, Jenna Smith, Dallas Creekmore, Alexis Brown, MacKenna Brown and Matthew Brown; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, December 12 at 3 P.M. with Rev. Josh Smith and Steve Farmer officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Michael Prater, Brandon Prater, Ryan Powers, Matt Brown, Matthew Brown and Michael Mills.  Honorary bearers will be Kenny Williamson and Doug Hammons.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to her caregivers, Diane Brooks and Donna Lankford and the staff of Bluegrass Hospice Care.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday after 12 noon until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
