Mrs. Genieva Burnham, 79, of Heidrick, passed away Tuesday evening, October 8, 2024 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Wesley and Edna Mills born in Clay County on December 14, 1944.
Genieva was a former upholsterer and a member of the Dripping Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her yard, cooking and sewing. She also spent time reading her Bible and watching gospel programs on the television.
On March 26, 1964, she united in marriage with Ralph E. Burnham, who preceded her in death.
Other family members to precede her in death include a son, Ralph Isaac Burnham; a sister, Janice Broughton; brothers, Aster, O. V., Leamon, Wesley Nasby and Ray Mills; sisters-in-law, Onellee Mills and Shirley Mills and brothers-in-law, Charles Israel, Tom Price, Charles Reeves and David Broughton.
Survivors include her loving sisters, Virginia Reeves of London, Remonia Israel and Brenda Sue Price both of Louisville and Glenda Riddle and husband, Calvin, of Gray; sisters-in-law, Nadine Mills of Magnolia, Kay Mills of Bloomington and Thelma Mills of Corbin; a granddaughter, Hannah Burnham; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, October 13 at 2 P.M. with Bobby Joe Mills and Rev. Ricky Broughton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Patterson Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be her nephews. Honorary bearers will be the staff of the Barbourville ARH Hospital, who took excellent care of Genieva and her family.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
