Gene Saylor, 71 of Arjay passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Redbird, KY on September 22, 1949 to the late Sim Saylor and Lora Sizemore Saylor. Gene had been a coalminer for the Eastover Mining Company at Arjay, KY. He loved to hunt, fish and ride his fourwheeler in the mountains. Gene also enjoyed raising a garden and working in his garage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Saylor, Jerry Saylor, Noah Saylor and Anthony Collett; his sisters, Kathleen Jones, Evelyn Fox, Eunice Clouse, Hester Sams and Christine Harrison.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Wilma Saylor; sons, Jamie “Pee Wee” Saylor and Jody “Doe“ Saylor; daughter, Brittany Abner and husband, Shane; grandchildren, Jay Saylor, Jacob “Bug” Saylor, Kelsee Abner, Sydnee Abner and Dawson Aber; siblings, George Saylor, Stacy Saylor, Leroy Collett and Martha Burchfield; special friends, Monte Jordan, Carl Jordan and Paul Jordan; along with many niece, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 19 at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eric Jordan and Rev. Dustin Wilder.
Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery at Arjay with nephews serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12 Noon until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Saylor Family.
