Obituary for Gene Hollon (1942-2020)

Gene Hollon was born May 2, 1942 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, the son of the late Elijah Hollon and Florence Nell Cardwell Hollon.  He was united in marriage to Edna Mae Turner Hollon who survives.  He is also survived by his children Brenda Kathleen Southerland and husband Bruce, Sharon Lynn Johnson and husband Chuck all of Lily, and Jerry Keith Hollon of London; brother of Elijah Hollon of London; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Eugene Hollon.

Gene was the former sheriff of Laurel County, a member of Faith Assembly of God Church, and a veteran of the United States Navy.  He was also the former Chief and member of the Campground Fire Department

Gene Hollon departed this life Sunday, December 20, 2020 being 78 years, 7 months, and 18 days of age.

Funeral services for Gene Hollon will be conducted at 1 pm Wednesday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Dan Collard and Bill Mays officiating.  Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery in London.  The family of Gene Hollon will receive friends after 6 pm Tuesday at Bowling Funeral Home.
