Mrs. Frieda Gayle Prater, 86, of Barbourville, passed away Thursday morning, April 25, 2024 at the home of her daughter. She was the daughter of the late William H. and Carla Mae Davis Hollon born on February 8, 1938 in Lee County.
Frieda was a former teacher assistant, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the First United Methodist Church of Barbourville. She loved to cook and was an excellent chicken and dumpling maker. Frieda also enjoyed reading and crocheting, but most enjoyed her time spent with family.
On December 23, 1958, she united in marriage with John Prater and to this union a daughter was born.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 65 years, John Prater of Barbourville; a loving daughter, Starr Rossman and husband, Kevin, of Barbourville; a brother, William O. Hollon and wife, Brenda, of Texas; a treasured grandson, Travis Rossman and wife, Whitney; two great grandchildren, Abigail and Joanna; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A private family service will be held.
