Ms. Frances Irene Gray, 77, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday morning, August 17, 2024 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Criss and Shelly Florence Valentine Abner born on April 10, 1947 at Baughman.
Irene was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She loved playing bingo, tending her flowers and watching game shows and soap operas. Irene also delighted in spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Ernestine Eversole and Wilma Beardsley; brothers, Clarence and Bobby Abner; a grandson, Koree Peace; nieces, Shella Eversole and Lisa Abner and a nephew, Christopher Eversole.
Survivors include her loving children, Clara Peace and fiancé, Jesse Marsee, Angela Engle and husband, Tim, and Burl Keith Gray and wife, Raegina; sisters-in-law, Karen Abner and Florence Abner; a brother-in-law, Corbin Eversole; treasured grandchildren, Wade Peace, Calvin Gray, Monica Gray, Alyssa Crider, Caleb Gray, Kaden Gray and Keiara Gray; great grandchildren, Gracie, Justice, Emmy, Hunter, Mason, Liam and Paisley; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, August 25 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Roy Eversole officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Carnes Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
