Obituary for Frances Connie Wilkerson (1948-2023)

Mrs. Frances Connie Wilkerson, 74, of Bryants Store, passed away Wednesday evening, January 18, 2023 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late James and Ola Angeline Russell Steele born on July 30, 1948 in Knox County.

Connie was a homemaker and a member of the Little Poplar Creek Baptist Church.  She enjoyed working puzzles, working in her yard, weed eating, sitting on the porch and especially enjoyed spending time with family and her dog, Willie.

On January 6, 1968, she united in marriage with Kyle Gene Wilkerson who preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Herman Eugene Steele.

Survivors include her dearly loved children, Rhonda Helton of Barbourville, Teresa Rice and Kyle Wilkerson and wife, Francis, all of Bryants Store ; a sister, Patricia Jones of Bryants Store; cherished grandchildren, Jessica Brown and husband, Bradford, Kayla King, Kyle Hammons, Meagan Helton, James Helton, Cody Wilkerson and wife, Hannah, Becky Jones, Heather Jones and husband, Dustin, Kaitlyn Wilkerson, Abby Wilkerson and Johnathan Helton; great grandchildren, Devin, Kevin and Brayden Brown, Hunter and Jada Abshire, Chloe Bingham, Jaycee King, Ava, Austin, Jacob and Charlie Hammons, Kylie, Kylin, Kaiden and Kenlee Helton, Kolton and Chandler Castle, McKenna Cox, Carter Davenport and Josiah Jackson; three nieces, Terri Steele, Christie Steele and Dana Maiden; special friends, Brenda Bryant, Wilma King, Beverly Hoskins, James Bennett, Jerry King and wife, Felicia, Cecilena Carnes and husband, Luke; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, January 26 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Bill Gray and Rev. Bart Smith officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Steele Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Bradford Brown, Devin Brown, Kevin Brown, Denny King, Jerry King and Mitchell Mills.  Honorary bearers will be the staff of Hospice of the Bluegrass, Dr. Jamie and staff at the Barbourville ARH Clinic and Dr. White and staff at Baptist Health Corbin.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Thursday after 10 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
