Floyd Fount Messer, age 67 of Girdler, was born in Knox County, KY on January 31, 1954 to the late Luther and Martha Mills Messer and departed this life on December 25, 2021 at his home. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and enjoyed Fox Hunting, hunting, watching Westerns, and time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, 3 sisters: Cledia Jackson, Maria Charles, and Helen Haynes; 2 brothers: Johnny Messer, and Luther Messer Jr.; a sister-in-law: Della Messer; and 2 brothers-in-law: Wayne Haynes and Lonnie Jackson preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 29 years: Helen Faye Messer of Girdler; a son: Sean Messer of Barbourville; a daughter: Stephanie Metcalf of Richmond, KY; 4 brothers; Arvil Messer, and Dexter Messer and wife Sue all of Hinkle, Jimmy Messer and wife Christine of Girdler, and Chester Messer of Barbourville; a brother-in-law: Gary Charles of FL; 4 grandchildren: Deven Hampton and wife Kari, Bentley Metcalf, Miranda Messer, and Jasmine Messer; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Mr. Floyd Messer will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. David Barnard officiating. Honorary Ministers will be Rev. Charles Eversole and Rev. Owen Smith. Burial will follow in Messer Cemetery with Dale Bunch, Christian Bunch, Dalton Bunch, Deven Hampton, Dexter Messer, and Stephanie Metcalf serving as Pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
