Obituary for Florence Hubbard (1926-2020)

Barbourville, Ky. – Florence Hubbard, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020.  Florence was the daughter of Mary Katherine Evans Webb and Walter Boyd Webb joyfully born to them on June 24, 1926.

Florence was born and raised in Davisburg, Kentucky.  She graduated from the eighth grade from the one-room schoolhouse she attended in Davisburg. Florence was a hard worker all of her life. During her teenage years, Florence worked, doing the wash and babysitting, for families at the Davisburg Mining Camp.  Once an adult, at the age of 18, she left home to live at the dormitory in Frakes, where she worked as a chaperone (house mother), and a cook. Florence was a dedicated member of the Chenoa Baptist Church.  On October 30, 1946, she married her beloved husband Floyd Monroe Hubbard, and they relocated to Dearborn Heights, Michigan to begin their life together.  Once settled, Florence became a homemaker and devoted mother.  She and her husband Floyd, married fifty-seven years, were blessed with eight cherished children.  

In addition to her parents, Mary Katherine Evans Webb and Walter Boyd Webb, Florence was preceded in death by a daughter, MaryAnn Hubbard, and by two sons: Danny Floyd Hubbard and Ray Thomas Hubbard. Two brothers, and one sister-in-law, and three sisters and three brothers-in-law also preceded Florence in death: Brady and Pauline Webb and Kelly Webb, and Laura Webb Gammon and Otto Gammon, Pearl Webb Wilson and Oliver Wilson and Serilda Webb Lamdon and Andy Lamdon.

Five children are left behind to celebrate Florence’s life: John Walter Hubbard, (Darlene), Judy Frasure (Wayland), Joann Jones (Harve), Kimberly Kaye Fleeman (Rodney Fuson), and Lorrie Lynn Yeary. Her late son Ray’s wife, Susie Hubbard also survives her, as well as, her brother Dee Webb (Molly Ann).  Florence leaves behind eighteen grandchildren: Dawn Jean Lamberson (Kyle), James Thomas Hubbard, Shannen Williams (Scott), John Hubbard Jr., Brain Frasure (Marcy), Steven Frasure (Amanda), Joel Cross, Mike Jones, Scott Jones (Nikki), Cody Jones (Jessica), April Pugh, Heather Brooks, Justin Bunch (Stephanie), Jeremy Bunch, Aaron Bunch, Candice Cox (Justin), Megan Cox (Chester Jones), and Kelsey Correa (Chad).  Forty-three great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren will also miss her dearly.

The Hubbard family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Monday, December 28, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 7:00 p.m.  Pastor Tim Sharpe will officiate with musical tributes by Forgiven. Interment will be on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. in the Hubbard Family Cemetery at Frakes.  The family has chosen the following friends and family members as Pallbearers: Scott Williams, Caleb Williams, Steven Frasure, Kanler Frasure, Brian Patrick Frasure, Justin Cox, Cole Jones, Mike Jones, Cody Jones, Chester Jones, and Jamie Frye.  Honorary Pallbearers are Justin Bunch, Camden Hoskins, Tyler Epperson, and Winston Epperson.
