Barbourville, Ky. – Evelyn Mills Carroll, 75, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020. Evelyn was a long time resident of London, Kentucky. She most recently resided in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
Evelyn was joyfully born in Knox County Kentucky to Obie Mills and Edna (Bargo) Mills on June 2, 1944. Throughout her life, Evelyn was known as a person who loved to help others. She loved to quilt, sing, and listen to gospel music. Evelyn was loving, kind and elegant. She was often described as being outgoing and “outstanding”.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Walter Carroll, one brother, Estill Mills of Barbourville and one sister, Zelma Brandon of Ringgold, Georgia.
Evelyn is survived by two sisters: Betty Mills (Albert) of Mt. Washington and Bea Centers (Jerry) of Taylorsville; two brothers: Uless Mills of London and Russell Mills (Elizabeth) of Barbourville; nieces: Lisa Carter of Harrison, Tn. and Denise Swartz of Columbus, Oh. and her nephew: David Mills of Louisville.
Funeral Services for Evelyn will be held at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend William Boyd Bingham III officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, March 11 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at the Hutchins Cemetery in Knox County.
