Obituary for Evelyn Grubb (1947-2025)

Mrs. Evelyn Grubb, age 77 of Gray, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, April 21, 2025, in the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was the widow of Rev. Ova Grubb and the daughter of Elbert Smith and Viola Hubbard, born to them on July 6, 1947, in Arjay, Kentucky.

Evelyn was a member of the Grubb Pentecostal Church. She dedicated her life to spreading the Love of the Lord around Southeastern Kentucky with her late husband Rev. Ova Grubb. She loved reading her Bible, singing hymns, cooking, gardening, chatting with friends, and enjoying time with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Viola Smith, her husband Rev. Ova Grubb along with ten siblings, Frank Smith, Lillie B. Collett, Virginia Sue Fugate, Thurman Smith, Birchell Smith, Escelene Ellison, Billie Joe Smith, Geneva Smith, Geraldine Smith, and Verda Frost.

Left behind to mourn her passing are her five daughters, Dottie Lynn Smith of Pineville, Pamela Ballard and her husband Tom of Bardstown, Cindy Kaye Mills of London, Deborah Mills of Pineville and Deanna Fore and her husband Matthew of Gray, one brother, Curtis Smith of Maryland and one sister, Mae Jones of Pineville, and nine grandchildren, Chelsie Mills and husband James Patterson, Joseph and his wife Maddison Mills, Joshua and his wife Leandra Ballard, Rebecca and her husband Nick Mudd, Jacob and his wife Hailey Ballard, Katie Ballard and her fiancé Cole Mingus, Sarah Elizabeth and her husband Justin Carnes, Hunter Michael West, and Isabella Clairese Mills, and thirteen great-grandchildren, Adaline Grace Patterson, Kaleb Ballard, Margaux Ballard, Pepper Ballard, Aiden Mudd, Eli Mudd, Noah Mudd, Miles Mudd, Jacob Ballard, Austin Ballard, Macy Elizabeth Carnes, Addison Olivia Carnes, and Kennedy Willow Reese Carnes. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Grubb will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Mitchell and Rev. Rodney Edwards officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Grubb Cemetery in Acorn Fork. The Pallbearers will be Matthew Fore, Joseph Mills, Hunter Michael West, Jacob Ballard, James Patterson and Tom Ballard. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton-Hutton Funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
