Barbourville, Ky. – Ernest “Ernie” Joseph Coscia, Jr., age 84, of Barbourville, passed away May 21, 2024. Ernie was the son of Ernest Coscia and Mary Catone Coscia born to them October 6, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Ernie worked as a self-employed pharmacist for many years. Through his work, and with his outgoing personality, he grew close to many of his fellow community members. Ernie was kind, always willing to lend a hand to others in need. He was a dedicated member of Sacred Health Catholic Church. Ernie taught his children the importance of faith and believing in Jesus. In his spare time, Ernie taught and enjoyed dancing and cooking. He was an avid golfer known for an occasional hole-in-one. Ernie taught his beloved sons the sport soon after making a dad and sons tradition of golf outings and trips over the years. Ernie will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Left behind to mourn Ernie’s passing are his sons, Johnny Coscia (Shaniuh) of Corbin, Kentucky and Charlie Coscia (Lisa) of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter Alesia Bernado of Corbin, Kentucky; Ten grandchildren, Gabe, Tim, Jason, Heather, Haley, Katy, Tony, Mitchell, Kenton, and Kennon; two step-grandchildren, Ella Snow Hopper, and Elli Frost Hopper; and six great grandchildren also survive Ernie and will miss him dearly. In addition to his parents, Earnest and Mary Coscia, Ernie was preceded in death by his sister, Ernestine Boyd of Memphis, Tennessee, his brother, Johnny Coscia, of Memphis, Tennessee and his brother-in-law, John Bernado.
