Ms. Emily Patterson Mays, 86, of Cannon, passed away Friday morning, November 8, 2024 at her home. She was born August 3, 1938 at Dewitt, the daughter of the late Joe S. and Allie Mae Epperson Patterson.
Emily was a homemaker and a member of the Sinking Valley Baptist Church, where she loved to fellowship with her Christian friends.
In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by three children, Barbara Sue Mills, Daniel Patterson and Sheila Kay Mills and five sisters, Josie Ruth, Quillie Axie Ruth, Ellen Lawson, Nancy Patterson and Virginia Dizney.
Survivors include her children, Brenda Gambrel, Judy Mills and Rondal Mills and wife, Katheryn; a special daughter-in-law, Phyllis Patterson; grandchildren, Danny, John Will, Donna Ann, Christa, Jason, Cherie, Roger, James Albert, Travis, Alisha, Emma, Jennifer, Erica and Derick; 28 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Clara J. Patterson; two brothers, Jim Patterson and wife, Debbie, and Paul Patterson; a special granddaughter, who took care of her until the end, Donna Holland; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, November 12 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Johnny Fisher officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Mays Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Kolson Holland, Ryan Patterson, Jaxon Holland, Nathan Patterson, Derick Mills and Jacob Buchanan.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
