Mrs. Elizabeth Mills, 85, of Jarvis, passed away Monday morning, November 23, 2020 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John Will and Nannie Mills born on November 5, 1935 at Road Fork.
Elizabeth was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. She loved her church, singing hymns and was faithful to attend as long as her health allowed. Elizabeth also enjoyed gardening, tending flowers, housekeeping, sewing and crocheting. Above all else she loved being with and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren.
On March 9, 1954, she united in marriage with Russell Mills.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Sally Broughton, Susie Mills, Eva Hensley and Axie Mills; five brothers, Arnold Mills, Amos Mills, Carl Mills, Ralph Mills and Henry Thomas “H. T.” Mills and a son-in-law, Fred Hensley.
Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Russell Mills of Jarvis; three beloved children, Wanda Hensley of London, Deloris Farmer of Barbourville and Dennis Mills and wife, Sharon, of Gray; four grandchildren, Russ Hensley and wife, Vicki, of Lexington, Rebecca Wilkins of Gray, Adam Mills and wife, Jenny, of Gulf Breeze, FL and Cara Mills of Gray; great grandchildren, Zach, Carter and Ben Hensley, Jaden and Tylan Wilkins and Adley Mills; a sister-in-law, Betty Sue Mills of Corbin; a brother-in-law, Mark Mills of Cranes Next; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A private family funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, November 29 with Rev. Jim Bargo officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Beatty Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Russ Hensley, Zach Hensley, Tyler Herrell and Logan Smith.
A drive-thru visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
Please remember, per the Governor’s mandate effective November 20, 2020 all funeral services will be private. Any person entering the funeral home is expected to be wearing a face covering of some kind at all times including graveside services and maintain the six feet of social distance.
