Obituary for Elizabeth B. Hatfield (1971-2022)

Mrs. Elizabeth B. Hatfield, 51, of Gray, passed away Friday morning, December 2, 2022 at Baptist Health Corbin.  She was the daughter of the late Bill and Helen Disney Burke born on February 1, 1971 in Barbourville.

Liz was a dental assistant with Knox Family Dentistry and a member of the Southeast Baptist Temple.  She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, writing poetry, doodling and loved animals, especially her dogs.  Liz loved people and would often spend time helping others even during her illness.  She dearly loved spending time with family and friends and cherished her grandchildren.  Liz would encourage others to remember the bigger picture and to believe in God and heaven.

On May 10, 1997, she united in marriage with Thomas Hatfield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Mary Belle Disney and Jake and Rose Burke; a sister, Deanza Burke; brothers-in-law she loved as brothers, Jim Pickard and Terry Miracle and a niece, Rebecca Kaye Gambrel.

Survivors include her loving husband, Thomas Hatfield; three children, Jessica Bargo, Cameron Hatfield and Madison Hatfield; two treasured grandchildren, Gracie and Marley Burton; four sisters, Teresa Burke-Reynolds and husband, Wayne, Marie Gambrel and husband, Sam, Sue Pickard and Barbara Miracle; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, December 8 at 1 P.M. with family and friends officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Disney Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be James Ballard, Scotty Helton, Brent McDonald, George West, Luke Owens and Joey Bunch.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.

At Liz’s request, expressions of sympathy may go to any animal rescue in her memory.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
