Edith Susan Smith, age 70, of Corbin, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. She was the the daughter of Junior Lee and Arrie (Davenport) Warfield, born to them on April 12, 1949 in Barbourville, Kentucky. Edith was the wife of the late Arthur Smith. She was a member of the Beech Springs Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her loving husband Arthur Smith and her parents Junior Lee and Arrie (Davenport) Warfield.
Left behind to mourn her passing are son Sam Smith and wife Devonna of Brookville, Indiana, daughter Fran Jones and husband Rob of Hazard, Kentucky, stepdaughter Davena Garcia and husband Steve of Corbin, Kentucky, grandchildren Matthew Hembree and wife Ashley, Ashley Noelle Hembree, Carly Winters and husband Nick, Hannah Rose Smith, Desiree Hunter and husband Chris, John Steele, Justin Johnson, Cecillia Davidson and husband Wayne, Clarissa Durham and husband Aaron, and Candice Garcia, great grandchildren McKenley Hembree, Benson Hembree, Amara Hembree, Jett Hembree, Levi Buck, Emma Hunter, Rylynn Winters, Elijah Smith, Belle Langdon, Tanner Davidson, Aubrey Davidson and Ellie Durham, and a brother Jerome Warfield and wife Beatrice of Corbin, Kentucky. She also leaves behind many relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Edith Susan Smith will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend
David Smith Officiating. Burial will follow in the Davenport-Helton Cemetery at Indian Creek Road, Corbin, Kentucky. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
