Obituary for Edith Jackson Cornett (1931-2022)

Mrs. Edith Jackson Cornett, 90, of Cannon, passed away Wednesday evening, February 23, 2022 at her home.  She was the daughter of the late Charles Ross and Nannie Hurst Jackson born on April 25, 1931 at Cannon.

Edith was a homemaker, a former postal relief clerk and a member of the First Christian Church of Barbourville.  She enjoyed reading Amish novels and collecting umbrellas.  Edith was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

On November 4, 1950, she united in marriage with Ewing Cornett and to this union three children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ewing; a daughter, Sharon Cornett and a brother, Charles Howard Jackson.

Survivors include her dearly loved daughters, Penny Cornett Staley and husband, Greg, of Tipp City, OH and Patricia “Trish” Cornett Bertram and husband, Mike, of Troy, OH; a brother, Morris R. “Joe” Jackson of Cannon; treasured grandchildren, Lauren Staley Brune and husband, Nathan, Allison Staley, Eric Staley and wife, Emily, Abigail Bertram and Travis Bertram; great grandchildren, Margo and Willow Staley; loving caregivers, Carlene Pierce, Patsy Brown, Jennifer Gray and Ginger Hensley; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, March 3 at 2 P.M. with Rev. David Barnard officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Jones-Hurst Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Greg Staley, Mike Bertram, Eric Staley, Travis Bertram and Nathan Brune.  Honorary bearers will be Dr. Richard Carter and his staff.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
