Earnest Gray, age 71 of Flat Lick, KY was born in Knox County, KY on July 31, 1949 to the late Jimmy and Halie Mae Broughton Gray and departed this life on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his home. He was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed racing cars, fishing on the creek, and time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, his wife: Coma Jewel Gray; a daughter: Fern Willene Merida; 2 brothers: Pe Jib Gray and Tommy Barnes; and 2 sisters: Jean Balley and Corine Baker preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving children: Ludina Collins and husband Billy, Haley Merida and husband James, and George Gray and wife Melissa all of Flat Lick, Elizabeth Merida of Manchester, Jewellene Collins and husband Eddie of Middlesboro, and Willard Gray of Pineville; a brother: JR Gray of Flat Lick; a sister: Annie Gray of Barbourville; 19 Grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Mr. Earnest Gray will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Glenn Hickey officiating. Burial will follow in the Merida Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home for a limited visitation on Tuesday from 6 to 9 P.M., and Wednesday from 10 A.M. to the funeral hour at 1. Due to the continuing COVID-19 Pandemic, and new regulations from our Governor gatherings will be limited and all who attend will be required to wear face mask and practice Social Distancing.
