Mr. Earl Smith, 75, of Jarvis, passed away Wednesday morning, March 9, 2022 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was the son of the late Jeff and Annie Mae Smallwood Smith born on July 19, 1946 in Clay County.
Earl was a retired foreman with Bluegrass Contracting Corporation in Lexington and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
On December 20, 1963, he united in marriage with Eva Mae Smith and to this union three children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Smith; six brothers, Art, Vernon, Ronnie, Russel, Donald and Gilbert Smith and a great-great granddaughter, Kaylee Peters.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 58 years, Eva Smith of Jarvis; two daughters, Anna Keener of Jarvis and Jackie Sparks and husband, Kelly, of Barbourville; a son, James Smith of Jarvis; three sisters, Bobbie Jean Smith of Jarvis, Sophie Kwasniewski of Corbin and Shirley Hunter and husband, Roger, of California; a brother, Glen Smith of California; a special niece, Veronica Patterson; seven grandchildren, Earl Enlow, Samantha Bair, Kayla Gray, Elizabeth Sparks, Misty Jones, Austin Summers and Savannah Smith; 18 great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, March 15 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Smith Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be his grandsons.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
