Dr. Clifford Ray Morris of Corbin, KY passed away on September 8th, 2022 at 85 years old. Ray
was born on February 7th, 1937 in Heidrick, Kentucky to Sarah Saylor Roman and Cecil Morris,
who preceded him in death.
He attended Knox Central High School in 1954 and then attended Cumberland College for a degree in Biology: Human Anatomy and Physiology. He proceeded to attend Eastern Kentucky University and received a Master’s in Principal Education. During his life, he also received a degree from Wichita State University in Theology, was a certified hypnotist, and received many other degrees throughout his life.
On December 21st, 1957 he married June Girdner who he happily remained married to for the
rest of his life. He had one son, Carlos R. Morris, who preceded him in death in 1993. He leaves behind his loving wife June, his beloved granddaughter Mary Jo Morris, his aunt Joanne E. Morris, his aunt Eva Dunn and her husband Kelso Dunn, his daughter-in-law Lois Renfro-Morris and an extended family. In the last few years of his life, he had wonderful caregivers who he also loved-;Ward Brown, Sheila Reeder. John Reeder, and Jenny Scalf among others. He also leaves behind his adored Great Pyrenees, Barry Manilow Morris.
During his life Ray was a minister, substance abuse counselor at Comprehensive Care, Respiratory therapist and EKG technician at Knox County General Hospital and Biology teacher at Knox Central High School, among many other jobs. Ray was devoted to the Lord and had a strong Christian faith. Ray was a wonderful father, husband and grandfather. Ray was also an avid UFO enthusiast, a devoted science fiction fan, could play multiple musical instruments by ear and was a devoted animal lover, who rescued many different species of creatures throughout his life.
A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 13 at 1 p.m. in the Ketchen Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Morris officiating.
Casket bearers will be John Reeder, Anthony Goff and Ward Brown. Serving as an honorary bearer will be Sam Davies.
Friends may call at the cemetery Tuesday prior to the service time.
