Obituary for Dorothy May Warren (1951-2020)

Mrs. Dorothy May Warren, 69, of Jarvis, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 7, 2020 at St. Joseph London.  She was the youngest of eleven children born on October 25, 1951 to the late Albert Bradley and Myrtle Samantha Davenport Privett at Jellico Creek in Whitley County.

Dorothy was a former schoolteacher at Dewitt Elementary School and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.  She was a published author in poetry, enjoyed singing, writing songs and playing the piano.  She dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren.

On May 25, 1990, she united in marriage with James H. Warren Jr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Martin and Kathryn Collins and four brothers, Charles, Carl, Merle and George Privett.

Survivors include her loving husband, Rev. Jim Warren of Jarvis; two beloved children, Samantha Smith and husband, Michael, of Girdler and Autumn Hoskins and husband, Ryan, of Harrogate, TN; a sister, Betty Glander of Fairborn, OH; three brothers, Kyle Privett of Corbin, Vernon Privett and wife, Alma, of Portage, IN and Eugene Privett and wife, Pat, of Batavia, OH; two treasured grandchildren, Hailey Smith and Lucas “Luke” Hoskins; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, November 12 at 3 P.M. with Rev. Mike Fuson and Joe Messer officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
