Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Parsons, 92, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday morning, August 15, 2020 at the Christian Health Center in Corbin. She was the daughter of the late Clark and Laura Mills Bargo born on April 14, 1928 in Knox County.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of the East Barbourville Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and sewing and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
On November 11, 1946, she united in marriage with Charles V. Parsons.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Dorsal Parsons; six sisters, Ruby Kippenburger, Opal Smith, Margret Benfield, Irene Hammons, Odie Gibbs and Genora Crawford; a brother, Himes Bargo; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Margret Helton Parsons; a brother-in-law, Raymond Parsons and a sister-in-law, Bernadine Parsons Hall.
Survivors include her grandson, Kevin B. Parsons and wife, Kristen, of Barbourville; three sisters, Evelyn Burnett and husband, Willard, of Barbourville, Linda Fannon and husband, Terry, of Corbin and Drucilla Atkins of Lexington; two great grandchildren, Tanner and Allison Parsons; a sister-in-law, Nancy Bargo of London; a brother-in-law, Jerry Benfield of Louisville; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, August 20 at 1 P.M. with Rev. James Vandy officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Bargo Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends. Honorary bearers will be the staff of the Christian Health Center.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
