Mr. Donald Ray Rice, age 58, of Barbourville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at UK Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on December 12, 1965 in Pineville, Kentucky, to the late Donald and Wilma (Bargo) Rice. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Shelton.
Donald Ray is survived by his children: Christopher Rice, Joshua Taylor, Abigail Grace Rice and Audrey Rice. Two Grandchildren: Parker, and Joyce. His siblings: Kathleene (Pete) Bays, Judy Mills, Doris (Richard) Lane, Rex Rice, Leona Warfield, Pam (Wendell) Williams, and Roy (Mary) Rice. Plus, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glenn Collins officiating. Pallbearers will be Richard Lane, Dale Lane, Roy Rice, Rex Rice, Pete Bays and Wade Bays. Graveside service will follow at Bingham-Rice cemetery in Artemus, Kentucky. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.
