Mrs. Deloris Miracle Adams, 83, of Somerset, passed away Saturday morning, January 8, 2022 at Bluegrass Senior Living of Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Edward Claude Walton and Mary Elon Williams born on September 7, 1938 in High Splint.
Deloris came from humble beginnings, born in Knox County to a devoted mother and coal miner father. As a young girl, she loved nothing better than to spend the day fishing with her daddy at the river near her home. She was smart and studious, graduating high school early and at top of her class before moving to Cincinnati to help her parents. Upon her return to Kentucky, she married her high school sweetheart, Earl, and together they had five kids. After the tragic loss of her daughter, Tammy, and her divorce from Earl, she packed up her four young children and set off for Atlanta to find work and start a new life.
It was in Atlanta that she met and married her second husband, Grady Adams. Deloris and Grady had two successful businesses together – Hickory Hams and Adams Equipment Company. She was a very hardworking and astute businesswoman, deriving great pleasure from her successes. Even more than that, though, Deloris loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She also had a lovely voice, much to the delight of anyone who had the pleasure to hear her sing.
After Grady’s death, the pull of her beloved Kentucky mountains was strong, so she moved back home to the Cumberland Valley. Here she lived out her remaining years in comfort and contentment, her faithful dog, Bo, at her side. Deloris was a smart, bold and strong woman who was truly one of a kind.
In addition to her parents, sisters, a brother and her husband, Grady, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Lynn Miracle and a son, Terry Alan Miracle.
Survivors include her children, Michael Barry Miracle of Nicholasville, Beth Ann Bogue and husband, John, of Boise, ID and Amye Adams von Seebach and her wife, Laura Kimes of Birmingham, AL; a sister, Brenda Sue McKinney of Atlanta, GA; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan Aaron Chase Miracle, Ryan Paul Miracle, Leigh Ann Miracle, Brittany Megan Bogue, Hayley Caitlin (Bogue) Erlebach, Savannah Peyton Bogue, Mitchell Adams Bogue, Sierra Quinn Bogue, Hans Mies Michael Clinton von Seebach, Hans Tristan Dieter Gerhard von Seebach, Perri Ilse von Seebach and Sophia Elke von Seebach; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Ann Raquel Mahan, Jaycee Joyce Erlebach and Skyler Bogue Erlebach; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A celebration of her life will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, January 14 at 2 P.M. with Paul Baker officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
The family wishes to express special gratitude to the staff of the Bluegrass Senior Living Center, who, in Deloris’ own words, took excellent care of her and treated her like family for the last year of her life.
