Mrs. Delia Roella Mills, 84, of Dewitt, passed away Wednesday morning, September 20, 2023 at the Corbin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Homer and Mattie Alice Jackson Mills born on December 31, 1938 at Scalf.
Delia was an long-time elementary schoolteacher at Dewitt Elementary School and a member of the Dewitt Baptist Church. Delia loved socializing and talking and was known to be an animal lover. When she was in better health, she loved talking on the phone with her dear friend, Helen Walker. Above all, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
On June 2, 1956, she united in marriage with Lester Mills and to this union three children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, and two sisters, Laura Evelyn Walker and husband, Brice, and Rowena Clark and husband, Denver.
Survivors include her loving children, Bruce Duane Mills and wife, Marietta, and Mark Herbert Mills all of Dewitt and Matthew Leslie Mills and wife, Dennie Beth, of London; cherished grandchildren, Derrick Bruce Mills, Kelli Lachelle Mils and husband, Jacob, Mattalin Claire Mills, Elizabeth Bergeon Mills, Thomas Collier Mills, Marcella Beth Mills Pasternak and husband, Richard, and Madison Kaylee Mills; great grandchildren, Harrison Broderick Mills, Amelia Kate Mills, Lydia Pasternak, Reece Averie Pasternak and Parker Jane Pasternak; niece and nephew, Sharon T. Walker and David Clark and wife, Susan; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, September 24 at 3 P.M. with Rev. Terry Broughton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Derrick Mills, Collier Mills, Brent Bingham, Tim Bargo, Christian Mills, Dallas Brown and Bryce Brown.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday after 1 P.M. until the funeral hour.
