Obituary for Debbie Simmons (1959-2022)

Mrs. Debbie Simmons age 62 of Barbourville departed this life on Sunday, January 30, 2022 in the Barbourville ARH. She was the widow of David Simmons and the daughter of Ford and Dorothy Brown, born to them on October 21, 1959 in Scalf, Kentucky.

      Debbie enjoyed life. She loved walking and working outside and spending time with her grandchildren. She attended church at New Bethel and Knox Fork.

      She is preceded in death by her parents, Ford and Dorothy Brown, her husband David Simmons, two brothers, G.D. Brown and Roy Brown and three sisters, Sundine Knottingham, Joyce Ann Lowe and Brenda Kay McVey.

      Left behind to mourn her passing, her children, two daughters Lacie Brown and friend Jason Grubb of Barbourville and Penny Marie Warf and husband Steve of Bowling Green, three sons Ford Lee Simmons and wife Carla of Barbourville, Mike Simmons and wife Marilyn and David Earl Simmons all of Bowling Green, Kentucky,  six grandchildren, Joseph Simmons, Dickie Lee Brown, Brittany Nicole Smith and husband Cody, Jasmine Brown, Destiny Simmons, Jayden Faith Brown all of Barbourville, two great grandchildren, Nathaniel Braylon Smith and Avery Kate Brown and one new great-grandchild on the way, one brother, Bleve Brown of Bimble, three sisters, Virginia Lee Neal of East Bernstadt, Ruby Jean Broughton and husband Quentin of Barbourville and Teresa Lynn Lambert and husband Tommy of Hinkle. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

      Funeral services for Mrs. Simmons will be conducted on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 2005 Ky 1803, Barbourville, Kentucky with Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. She will be laid to rest in the Brown Cemetery at Payne Hollow. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

      Friends will be received at the New Bethel Baptist Church on Thursday evening after 6:00 p.m.
