David Scott Merida, age 58 of Flat Lick was born in Knox County, KY on March 5, 1966 to the late Clint Merida, Jr. and Samantha Edwards Merida and departed this life on April 23, 2024 in the Baptist Health of Corbin Hospital. He was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed 4-wheeling, riding Motorcycles, chickens, raising horses, show horses, and time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, a daughter: Jessica Ann Merida; grandparents: clint and Axie Merida; a sister: Tina Rose; uncles: Lonnie, Doyle and Teddy; aunt: Sharon; and cousins: Steve, Jamie and Jamie preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 41 years: Margaret Merida of Flat Lick; a daughter: Samantha Jo Eldon and husband Jonathon of Flat Lick; 2 sons: David Clinton Merida and fiance Brianna Vaughn and David Mullins and fiance Hope Johnson all of Flat Lick; 3 sisters: Trita Gray and husband Harm of Flat Lick, Charlene Cornett and husband Dave of Mackey Bend, and Donna Callahan of TN; 9 grandchildren: Annabeth, Bentley, Colton, Brady, Emmakay, Oakley, Alex, Austin, and Alan, and 2 on the way; and a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Mr. David Merida will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ken Merida and Rev. Mike Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Allen Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Barbourville Funeral Home Friday Evening from 6 to 9 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to the funeral hour at 2.
