David Edgar Lockhart age 50 of Corbin, Kentucky passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born November 30, 1971 to George Edgar Lockhart and Priscilla Ann Lockhart Ridener, David was a life-long resident of the Corbin, Kentucky area. He graduated from Corbin High School and Eastern Kentucky University.
David had worked as a locomotive engineer with CSX and Canadian Pacific Railroad, and served as the State Manager of Kentucky for the LECMPA Insurance Company. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and friends and helping others. David became a Christian at a young age and generously shared his time and resources with those in need throughout his life. In recent years, he had traveled to foreign countries distributing food, clothing, toys, and the Word of God in hundreds of New Testaments.
David is survived by his three children, Macy Lockhart (Sam) of Jackson County, Caanan Lockhart (Kenzie) of Girdler, and Hank Lockhart (Paige) of Girdler, grandchildren. Ace and Axel of Girdler, brother, Benton Lockhart (Rebecca) of New Orleans, Louisiana, nieces, Renzi Fugate (Brandon) of Corbin and Jessalyn Lockhart of Hazard, nephew, Blake Lockhart of Lexington.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a loving step-father, Everett T. Ridener.
Funeral services for David Lockhart will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Owen Smith and Rev. Mike Helton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin. Pallbearers will be C.J. Gambrel, Christian Bunch, Brandon Fugate, Blake Lockhart, Dale Bunch and Jeff Paul. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 3:30 p.m.
