Obituary for David E. Parrott (1941-2020)

Mr. David E. Parrott, age 79 of Heidrick, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, November 9, 2020 in the Signature Health Care Facility in Pine Knot, Kentucky. He was the son of Otis Parrott and Sudie (Trosper) Parrott born to them on January 16, 1941. He was previously united in marriage with Janice (Hyde) Barnes and to this union two sons were born. David was a member of Beacon Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army.

          He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis & Sudie Parrott, a son, Daniel Parrott and several brothers and sisters.

          He is survived by his son Larry Parrott and daughter in law Elaine Parrott, who he thought of as his  daughter, of London, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Jordan McClure and husband Johnathon of Hebron, Kentucky, Courtney Parrott of Cynthiana, Kentucky and Sarah Parrott of San Francisco, California, one great granddaughter, Danielle Parrott of Cynthiana, Kentucky, six sisters, Patricia Abner and husband Doyle of Heidrick, Kentucky, Sharon Updyke and husband Paul of Ohio, Claudia Rowlette and husband Wayne of Gray, Kentucky, Charmaine Moore of Middlesboro, Kentucky, Phyllis Haley of Middlesboro, Kentucky and Carolyn Lewin and husband Wayne of Ohio. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

          Funeral services for Mr. David Parrott will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Chesnut officiating. Pallbearers will be Donne Abner, Jody Abner, Tim Abner, Dennis Abner, Todd Parrott, Scott Parrott, Bill Parrott, Dean Abner and Johnathon McClure. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Beacon Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in the Trace Branch Community Cemetery at Heidrick. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

          Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.

          In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Legion Post in Corbin in memory of David.

          Please remember, during the ongoing pandemic, there will be capacity restrictions and social distancing guidelines that we will need to follow during all our services. This will include wearing a face covering as mandated by the Governor of Kentucky for the safety of our families, visitors’ and staff.
