Obituary for David “Daddy Dave” Evans (1944-2022)

Mr. David “Daddy Dave” Evans age 78 of Barbourville, departed this life on Sunday evening, October 30, 2022. He was the husband of Charlene (Coffey) Evans and the son of Arthur and Emma Katherine (Lacy) Evans. He was born to them on July 9, 1944 in Princeton, Kentucky. David was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church and was former co-owner/operator of Knox Cash Jobbers. He had also been a teacher at Lynn Camp and most recently a bus monitor for Knox County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Panthers play and also UK. Early in life, he enjoyed golf.

      He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Emma Evans, a daughter, Amy Baker, a son in law, William Tye Farmer, a brother-in-law, Nick Melton and his father-in-law, Charles Coffey.

      Left behind to mourn his passing, his devoted wife. Charlene Evans of Barbourville, children, Patrick Evans and wife Melissa of Barbourville, Rhonda Caldwell and husband David of Lexington, Wesley Evans of Tennessee, Darrell Evans and wife Heather of Carlisle, Kentucky, Jordan Evans of Pineville, Tristan Evans of Barbourville and Charlotte Parrish and husband Jim of Lexington, siblings, Lacy Evans, of Lexington, Barbara Melton of Middlesboro and James Arthur Evans of Lexington, grandchildren,  Seth Evans, Cody Evans, Amelia Miller, Evan Caldwell, Peyton Evans, Jackson Evans, Skye Baker, Carter Wigglesworth and Alex Watkins, one great grandchild, Evelyn Nova Evans and his mother in law, Yuleva Coffey. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

      Funeral services for Mr. David Evans will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 42022 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. James Lawson officiating. Pallbearers will be Tristan Evans, Cody Evans, Zac Smith, Cristian Coffey, Kyron Disney and Jessie Bass. Honorary pallbearers are: Knox County Board of Education, David Lundy, the Knox Central Panthers, all the Lundy Branch neighbors, the Jackson family of Grundy, Virginia, Doug Hensley, Pat Hauser, Tommy Mills, Les Butler, Junior Kelly, Bill Tipton, Jackie McNab, Darren Lord, Austin Smith, Stan Hinkle, Lisa Asher, the Edna Foley Family, Lowell Lundy, Leamon Davidson, Eric Canady, Roger Farris, Johnny Farris, Steve Evans, Roger Evans, Gary Bowlin, Bowlin Family Pharmacy, Mark Rose, Margaret Redman, Dana Butler, Charlotte Frederick, Kenneth and Joyce Vaughn and Helen Abner. Burial will be private. We would like to thank everyone that called, messaged and helped in any way during David’s illness. Our daughter-in-law, Melissa Evans has been there for every need.

      Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
