Mr. Danny Michael Nelson, age 64, of Barbourville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was the son of the late Robert “Bobby” Nelson and Dorothy “Dottie” Gregory Nelson, born to them on May 18, 1958, in Whitley County, Kentucky.
Danny was a valuable and longtime dedicated employee of 25 years at Hinkle Contracting. He enjoyed being outdoors, participating in car shows, and trail riding, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Nelson.
Left to mourn his passing include his loving daughter, Kadi Jordan (Justin) of Barbourville; two cherished grandchildren: Danni Beth Jordan and Gavin Jordan; two sisters: Barbara Peace (Warren) of Fincastle, Virginia, and Deborah Reynolds (Vernon) of Corbin, Kentucky; two nephews: Richard (Tara) Reynolds and Robert (Megan) Reynolds; two nieces: Crista Peace and Ashley Peace; two great nephews: Ashton Reynolds and Zachary Reynolds; and two great nieces: Rossi Riley and Remi Riley, along with many other dear friends and family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 14, 2022, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with James Hodge and John Laws officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Church Cemetery. Casket bearers include some of his closest friends: Randy Buchanan, Shane Jacobs, John Evans, Scott Parrott, Mitchell Buchanan, Sam Buchanan, and Ashton Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers are members of his Hinkle family with whom he worked daily: Randy Mahan, Kevin Nelson, Jimmy Harding, Roger Powers, Michael Yancy, Bryan Johnston, Henry Goley, Adam Watson, Clark Susong, and Robbie Lickliter.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
