Mr. Curtis Johnson Sr., 84, of Dayton, OH, passed away Monday afternoon, June 24, 2024 at the Wood Glen Alzheimer’s Community in Dayton. He was the son of the late Raymond and Bernice Lee Johnson born October 9, 1939 at Benham.
Curtis was a retired security guard and Veteran who faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, always had a clean home and took pride in a well manicured lawn.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Williams Johnson; son, Daniel Johnson; daughter, Melissa Johnson; brother, Raymond Johnson Jr. and sisters, Gwen Anderson and Sandra Smith.
Survivors include his children, Curtis Eugene Johnson Jr. of Harrodsburg, Darrell Wayne Johnson of Elyria, OH and Eugenia Reed of Barbourville; sister, Wanda Mobley of Miami, FL; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 12 Noon with Rev. Phillip Gates officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville on Tuesday, July 2 at 1:30 P.M. with military funeral honors.
Serving as casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday after 10 A.M. until the funeral hour. On Tuesday, family and friends will meet at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 1:15 P.M.
