Barbourville, Ky. – Clyde Nunley, 99, of Himyar, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Barbourville ARH Hospital following a short illness. He was born February 16, 1922, in Pineville, Kentucky. A son of the late William Harrison and Eliza Cribbs Nunley. Clyde was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church Dorton’s Branch, Kentucky. Clyde married Ruth Chavies on January 22, 1947. They lived in Hazel Park, Michigan for many years where they raised three children. Clyde was a World War II Army Veteran.
In addition to his parents, William Harrison Nunley and Eliza Cribbs Nunley, Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Chavies Nunley, and a granddaughter. Three brothers: Leonard Nunley, Frances Nunley, and William Nunley; and four sisters: Edna Mae Bingham, Margaret Nunley, Juanita Nunley, and Mildred Hamby also preceded him in death.
Clyde is survived by three children: R. Joe Nunley, of Michigan, Judy Stewart (Jimmy), of Oklahoma, and Jack Nunley (Sheila), of Kentucky; ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, August 8, 2021, from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour of 3:00 PM. The Reverend Jeff Tingle will officiate. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service in the Farley Cemetery at Himyar, Kentucky. The family has chosen as Pallbearers Jimmy Stewart, Jr., Jack Edward Nunley, Jr., Michael Norman Nunley, Antonio Clyde Stewart, Keith Bowling, and Buell Nunley.
