Barbourville, Ky. – Mr. Clayton Wayne Mills, 78, of Stinking Creek, Flat Lick, Ky., passed away August 29, 2021. He was the son of the late Lola Mills and Nasby Mills born to them on August 17, 1943, in Knox County, Ky.
On March 21, 1964, he united in marriage with his wife, Edith Mae Mills, and two sons were born, Greg and Shannon Mills.
In addition to his parents, Lola Mills and Nasby Mills, Clayton was preceded in death by an infant brother, who passed away at birth, and three sisters, Reva of Indiana, Carol of Lexington, and Shirley of Lexington.
Left behind to mourn his passing is his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Edith Mae Mills, son Greg Mills, son Shannon Mills, and his significant other Cleo, grandson Dylan Wayne Mills and his significant other Alex Daniels, grandson Patrick Mills and wife Mikaela Mills, and granddaughter Ashley Reynolds and husband Tristian. Great grandchildren Shelby May Mills, and Carter Wayne Mills as well as Peyton Brown, Brayden Alexander, and Tanner Reynolds also survive Clayton, as does Clayton’s loving family, whom will miss him dearly, Marie Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends, former daughters-in-law, Dianne Truitt, and her daughter Averie of Texas, and Monica Love, and her daughter Melody of Ohio.
Clayton was a member of the Salt Gum Baptist Church. He had many jobs throughout his life and was a very hard and devoted worker. He also had many hobbies, his favorite one being Four-Wheeling, he loved riding, taking in the view of the mountains and of his home place. Clayton also treasured spending time with his girl Shelby May and with his family.
Visitation for Mr. Clayton Wayne Mills will be Friday, September 3, 2021, at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM and again on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM. The Reverend Kennon Roark will officiate with musical tributes performed by Still Blessed. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service in the Clayton Mills Cemetery at Jeff’s Creek, Flat Lick, Ky. Casket Bearers are Dylan Mills, Shannon Mills, Patrick Mills, Greg Mills, Mike Grubb, and Billy Mills.
