Obituary for Chris Gray (1940-2023)

Mr. Chris Gray, 82, of Flat Lick, passed away Tuesday morning, February 7, 2023 at his home.  He was the son of the late Dewey and Julie Mills Gray born on April 13, 1940 in Knox County.

Chris was a logger by trade and a member of the Greenbriar Holiness Church.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, ginsenging and being outdoors.  Chris especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

On July 2, 1978, he united in marriage with Nada June Jackson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Diana Faye Gray and Vickie Lynn Evans; a son, Chris Loyd Gray, three sisters, Lena Rice, Edna Hobbs and Ruah Hubbard; four brothers, Charlie, Delbert, Leamon and Thomas Gray and a great granddaughter, Harper Rose Miller.

Survivors include his loving wife, Nada June Gray of Flat Lick; three children, Richard Junior Evans and wife, Dawn, of Gray, Barbara Ann Gray and husband, Earl, and Lena Ann Davidson and husband, Shannon, all of Flat Lick; a brother, Eugene Gray and wife, Virgie, of Flat Lick; 22 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, February 12 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Darrell Bryant and Rev. Golden Taylor officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Steven Gray, Nicholas Gray, Billy Laws, Cameron Williams, Lena Davidson, Jeff Gray, Camron Gray and Jhakoby Gray.  Serving as honorary bearers will be Brayden Davidson, Andrew Mills and Jeffrey Mills.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
