Mr. Charles Dion Pickard, 62, of Barbourville, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 13, 2025 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. He was born August 24, 1962 in Corbin, the son of Donald Ray and June Doolin Pickard.
Dion was an owner of the former Pickard Chrysler and Pickard Properties and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Barbourville, where he served as deacon for over 13 years. Additionally, he served with The Gideons International, he was a member of the Viper Club and a trail guide for the Jeep Jamboree USA. Dion attended Union College, where he was a member of the swim team. He was an avid collector of Hot Wheels, enjoyed tinkering in his garage, loved to camp and hike and was a classic car enthusiast. Dion loved to travel the world and made sure he stopped at every antique shop along the way. He most loved spending his free time with his family and his favorite role was being the best Papaw to his grandchildren.
On June 27, 1987, he united in marriage with Jennifer Hall and to this union four children were born.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Luverna Pickard and James and Arizona Doolin and father-in-law, Tommy Hall.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 37 years, Jennifer Pickard of Barbourville; four dearly loved children, Donna Rae Tatman and husband, Alex, of Lexington, Dayna Renae Branum and husband, Seth, Diondra Lynn Warren and husband, Kody, and Charles Thomas Pickard and wife, Sydni, all of Barbourville; parents, Don and June Pickard of Barbourville; a sister, Dowanna Ramsey and husband, Bryon, of Barbourville; treasured grandchildren, Kason Thomas Warren, Nora June and Indy Kate Branum, Arabella June Tatman and Aurora Jade Warren; mother-in-law, Wilma Hall of Barbourville; a sister-in-law, Teresa Patterson and husband, Rex, of Barbourville; brother-in-law, J. M. Hall and wife, Ginger, of Barbourville; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Barbourville Tuesday, March 18 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Ralph Neal and Dr. Tyler Shields officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mayhew Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Charles Thomas Pickard, Seth Branum, Kody Warren, Alex Tatman, Joshua Ramsey, Matthew Ramsey, Easton Ramsey and Joe Johnson. Honorary bearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church and the Pickard Chrysler crew.
Friends may visit at the church Monday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
