Charles Christopher Philpot departed this earth on October 11, 2020, at the age of 35 years, to rest in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was deeply loved by a host of family and friends. Chris, a.k.a. “Bub” or “Philpot” to many, was born to Lonnie Philpot and Kathy Strunk on December 20, 1984 in Corbin, Kentucky. Born the baby of the family, he grew up into a gentle giant of whom was loved by all he came in contact with. As a young boy, he was an avid fan of basketball, which led him to play for Lynn Camp High School, proudly donning the jersey number 44 throughout his career. Chris later went on to work at Hibbett Sports and Kroger in Corbin, Ky in his latter teenage years and beyond, where he was endeared by all who knew him.
Chris married Amber Devires in 2007. They had two children, Tyler Charles Philpot and Gracelynn Lenay Philpot. Collectively, Chris and Amber taught their children to love and respect others unconditionally. The feeling of responsibility for the safety and well-being of his children was extraordinary. There was nothing in life that Chris was more passionate about or expressed more love for than that of his beloved children. He was a tireless advocate for them.
Chris was a member of Horse Creek Baptist Church in Corbin, Ky, where he grew up. This is where he gave his life to Jesus Christ, and was saved and baptized.
Chris joins his grandparents, Charles Ray Westbrook, Wilma June Westbrook, John C. Philpot and Mary Ruth Philpot Bentley in heaven. He is survived by his parents, Kathy Strunk and Lonnie Philpot, his children Tyler Philpot and Gracelynn Philpot, his sister Shannon Dyche, his brother Shane Strunk, his nieces Emma Williams, Michaela Williams, Raylee Rimas, and his nephews Quinn Strunk and Baylor Strunk, and his best friend Nathan Tanner, as well as an abundance of extended family and friends.
