Obituary for Carolyn Sue Bargo (1948-2023)

Mrs. Carolyn Sue Bargo, 74, of Dewitt, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2023 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was the daughter of the late James and Flora Bargo Carnes born on February 14, 1948 at Dewitt.

Carolyn was a devoted homemaker and member of the Dewitt Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, tending flowers, quilting, watching Hour of Harvest on television and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes.

On November 22, 1970, she united in marriage with Willard “Cotton” Bargo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cotton; a daughter, Arlene Bargo and four brothers, James Kenneth, Lonny Dale, Larry Wayne and Billy Ray Carnes.

Survivors include her loving children, Freda Hubbard of Dewitt and Donny Edward Carnes and wife, Devonda, of Mills; a sister, Barbara Ruth Finley of Rising Sun, IN; three treasured grandchildren, Gina Joanna Smith and husband, Danny, Jasmine Nicole Brown and husband, Jackie, and Christopher Waylon Hubbard; two great grandchildren, Alyssa Nicole and Callie Ann Brown; special friend, Margie Rhodes; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, February 10 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Donnie Mills and Rev. Jim Bargo officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Thomas Bargo Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.  Honorary bearers will be staff of the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center who provided Carolyn loving care during her time there.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
