Mrs. Carol Jean Gray, 79, of Boone Height, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 1, 2021 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Henry Edward and Nannie Jane Rhodes Miles born on October 7, 1941 in Barbourville.
Carol was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed sewing and making candy, which earned her the name “Candy Lady”.
On February 14, 1966, she united in marriage with Leonard Gray and to this union three children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, and two brothers, Herbert and Kenneth Miles.
Survivors include her three beloved children, Robby Hembree and wife, Chrystal, and Ronnie Gray all of Boone Height and Tina Gray of Corbin; a sister, Beulah Williamson of Barbourville; three grandchildren, Krystle Wirth and husband, Joshua, Bradley and Nolan Gray; three great grandchildren, Kaylee Beth Gray and Charlotte and Mason Wirth; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted at the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church Wednesday, August 4 at 4 P.M. with Rev. Bill Engle, Rev. Samuel Lawson and Rev. Gary Miles officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Miles Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Gary Miles, Joshua Wirth, Nolan Gray, Kenny Williamson, Corey Williamson and Brandon Williamson.
Friends may call at the church Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday after 2 P.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
