Obituary for Carl Smith (1942-2020)

Carl Smith, age 77 of Corbin was born in Barbourville, KY on November 18, 1942 to the late Bev and Damie Smith and departed this life on October 30, 2020 in the Baptist Health of Corbin.  He was a member of the Light House Tabernacle and enjoyed gardening, talking about the Lord, fishing, collecting marbles, and time with family and friends. 

In addition to his parents, a brother: Charles Smith; and a sister: Rowena Smith preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 53 Years Janet Sue Smith of Corbin; 3 daughters: Angela Smith and husband John of Corbin, Melissa Wilson and husband Clarence of Barbourville, and Shirley Ann Washam and husband Melvin of Pineville; 2 sons: Christopher Lee Smith and fiancé Teresa Jackson of Oneida, and Carl Smith Jr. and fiancé Jean Nolan of Corbin; a brother: Kenneth Smith and wife Charlene of Barbourville; a sister: Cora Lee Berkley and husband Shirley of Barbourville; 3 grandchildren: Joshua Wilson, Danielle Smith, and Dustin Lane; 1 great granddaughter: Ava Rose Layne; other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. Carl Smith will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Glen Collins and Brother Ronnie Washam officiating.  Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with Clarence Wilson, Joshua Wilson, John Smith, Jerry Smith, Tony Kyser, and Randall Smith serving as Pallbearers.  Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home for a limited visitation on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 P.M. and Wednesday from 10 A.M. to the funeral hour at 2.  Due to the continuing COVID-19 Pandemic, the family has requested all visitors wear face mask and practice Social Distancing.
