Ms. Bonnie Lou Shannon, better known as “Boo-Boo”, age 73, departed this life on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at her home in Gray, Kentucky, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 21, 1948, in Knox County, the daughter of Edward Garland “Tee” and Rosie (Jones) Garland. Bonnie believed in the Baptist faith, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
On December 9th, 1965 she united in marriage with Joe Mattingly, and to this union three children were born.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Tony Garland and Jesse Ray Garland, one sister, Judy Ann Hensley, a brother-in-law, Jimmy Paul Hensley.
Left behind to mourn her passing, three sons, Tim Mattingly and wife Melinda of Michigan, Billy Mattingly and wife Lisa of Florida and Bobby Mattingly of Wisconsin, three sisters, Wanda Owens and husband Tim of Gray, Kentucky, Sherry Jordan and husband Lewis of Gray, Kentucky and Tammy Jackson and husband Steve of Sargent, Texas, one brother, Harvey Doug Garland and wife Jane of Corbin, Kentucky, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ms. Bonnie Shannon will be conducted on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Henson officiating. Pallbearers will be Tony Osborne, Eric Osborne, Jessie Garland, Jeremy Garland and Jacob Osborne. Honorary pallbearers will be Bluegrass Hospice nurses and staff. She will be laid to rest in the Gilbert-Sasser Cemetery on Sasser Rd. in London, KY. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
