Mrs. Billie Jo Bays age 86 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in the Heritage Health and Rehabilitation Center in Corbin. She was the widow of Billy C. Bays and was born on August 3, 1935, the daughter of William Thomas Smith and Ollie (Nelson) Smith. She believed in the Pentecostal faith and attended the Lighthouse Tabernacle. She loved her family and loved to garden.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Ollie Smith, her husband Billy C. Bays, one son Gary Bays, two brothers, Ugene Smith and A.J. Smith, four sisters, Alita Smith, Margie Smith, Beulah Warren and Connie Niziol and one grandson, Clifton Jones.
Survivors include, her children, Gail Smith of Indiana, Ricky Bays of Barbourville, Ronnie Bays of Okinawa, Japan, Debbie Carnes, Donald Bays, Beverly Mayer and Rosanna Wilson all of Barbourville, a special family member, Brenda Sue Haron of Barbourville, grandchildren, Jamie Jones, Shaun Smith, Shannon Thompson, Gary Michael Bays, John Bays, Adam Bays, Paul Bays, Christopher Carnes, Natasha Walters, Donielle Crawford, Tessa Mills, Paige Barrett, Brandon Wilson, William Mayer, Haley Bays, Mitch Bays and Erica Bays. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bays will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Lee officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. She will be laid to rest in the Bays Family Cemetery on Walker Park Road. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00.
