Barbourville, Ky. – Beverly Sue Swafford, 70, passed away on September 11, 2020. Beverly was the daughter of Loretta Shupe Swafford and Charlie Swafford, born to them on September 16, 1949. Beverly was the proud mother of Chad Deric Delpont. She also was a dedicated employee, working in various roles at Union College and for the State of Kentucky. Beverly was a proud graduate of Barbourville High School and was known to have an accurate, photographic memory. Beverly never met a stranger, she truly enjoyed the company of others, she loved to dance, and she was a loyal fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Beverly loved her family immensely. She had many titles: Mom, Bebe, Mammy, Aunt Bev, but her favorite one was Grammy, as she was called by her 2 grandsons. Even when she wasn’t in the best of health, she would call almost every day to check on them and tell them how proud she was of everything they did.
In addition to her parents, Loretta Shupe Swafford and Charlie Swafford, Beverly was proceeded in death by her sister Linda Swafford Alford and two brother-in-laws; Mike Payne and Bev Ray Alford.
Beverly is survived by many dear family members, including her beloved son, Chad Deric Delpont, his wife Catherine and their two son’s, Beverly’s grandsons’, Tucker Thomas Delpont and Grady Payne Delpont, all of Spring Hill, Tennessee. Two brother’s and three sister’s also survive Beverly: Ronnie Swafford (JoAnn) of Delaware; Bill Swafford (Michelle) of Barbourville; Mary Katherine Deaton (Ronnie) of Heidrick; Sheila Payne of Barbourville; and Margaret Pridemore (Dwight) of Heidrick. Many nieces and nephews also survive their Aunt Beverly and will miss her dearly.
Beverly’s family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, September 14, from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, September 15, from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 2:00 P.M. Reverend Josh Smith will officiate. A private graveside service for Beverly’s family will immediately follow the funeral service at the Patterson Cemetery in Heidrick. The family has chosen as Pallbearers Steven Payne, Scott Payne, Evan Alford, Pat Alford, Todd Pridemore, Bryan Erslan, Stevie Mason, and Gary Ferguson.
