Betty Marcum age 69, of London, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021.
She leaves behind one daughter, Angela Adams Bishop & husband Chad of London, KY; one grandson, Carter Thomas Bishop “Big Guy”; seven siblings, Barbara Faye Bledsoe & husband Rodney of Lexington, KY, James Murrell Smith & wife Debra of London, KY, William Darrell Smith & wife Donna Kay of Keavy, KY, Robbin Darlene House & husband Gary of London, KY, Farrlin Ray Smith & wife Barbara of Corbin, KY, Robert Turrell Smith of London, KY, Melissa Lynn Proffitt & husband Donald of London, KY; loving friend, Vincent Caldwell; plus a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends to mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elishell Lee Bowman; her husband, Donald Marcum “Old Man”; her parents, James Claude Smith & Ada Brown Smith.
Betty retired from the Laurel County Board of Education where she worked at North Laurel High School. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone that knew her. Her grandson, Carter, was her life and she loved her family dearly.
Funeral services for Betty Marcum will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Chesnut Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 28, 2021 beginning at 6:30 p.m. also at the funeral home. Pallbearers include: Jason Vaughn, Clayton Marlow, Jonathon Boggs, Matthew Bledsoe, Jordon Bledsoe, Josh Smith, Chris Smith, Hunter Jones. Honorary Pallbearers include: Shawn Smith, J.P. Smith, Brent Reed. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
