Mrs. Betty Jo Philpot, 63, of Kay Jay, passed away Monday afternoon, August 30, 2021 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Dortha Irene Overton Bays born on January 13, 1958 in Pineville.
Betty was a former receptionist with the Barbourville Family Health Center and a devoted member of the Living Waters Pentecostal Church, where she taught Sunday school. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting.
On August 7, 1976, she united in marriage with Vernon Philpot and to this union two children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bays Jr. and an infant sister, Brenda Faye Bays.
Survivors include her loving husband, Vernon Philpot of Kay Jay; two children, Melissa Vandivier and husband, Larry, of Corbin and Charles Philpot of Lexington; three sisters, Geraldine Hamilton, Barbara Hamilton and husband, Charles, all of Trosper and Wanda Messer and husband, Earl, of Girdler; a brother, Charlie Bays and wife, Denise, of Trosper; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A private graveside service will be conducted in the Barbourville Cemetery Saturday, September 4 with Rev. Charlie Humfleet officiating.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
